While hitting up the beaches is an obvious activity for Maui, there are so many non-beach related activities to do on this beautiful island. In this blog post, I will be sharing my favorite tours of local businesses.
My all-time favorite tour is at the Surfing Goat Dairy Farm in Kula. I mean, who doesn’t love baby goats?! They have guided casual tours every half hour on weekdays, and every hour on the weekends (check the website for exact opening hours) and it cost $12 per person. You can do an hour-long tour where you get to milk the goats and that one is a bit more expensive. Tim and I did the casual one and had such a good time. It starts off with feeding some of the goats (my favorite part) and learning about their mating habits. Fun fact: one buck can take care of all the female goats in a night!!

Next, we headed over to the milking station and learned about their process. This dairy farm is the only humane certified farm in Hawaii. After exploring the milking procedure, we went over to a gazebo for the cheese tasting. The tasting includes about six different cheeses, and they are all amazing. After, Tim and I ordered a cheese flight and panini. Absolutely delicious. We will definitely visit again.

If you know me, you know that I LOVE wine and work with some wine clients in my PR business, so touring Maui Wine was a must. The winery is located on a stunning property in Kula, with gorgeous views of Maui. The winery offers complimentary tours twice daily and has a great tasting room. I recommend doing a flight or two, their wines are really incredible. After the tour, we also ordered some cheese to pair with our wine. Maui Winery is a great spot to kick back and relax in nature.

Let’s move on to a different type of alcohol; vodka! There are two vodka distilleries in Maui. Ocean Vodka and Pau Vodka. Tim liked the Ocean Vodka tour better, but I think the tasting at Pau Vodka is better since you had more choices. Each tour costs about $12 and this includes a tasting at the end. At Pau, you can try three different vodkas and they give you a hefty pour. I tried most of the flavored ones, because who likes straight vodka?!
A visit to Maui isn’t complete without checking out Maui Brewing Co’s brewery in Kihei. The brewery is huge and they have great happy hour deals. The tour is 45 minutes and costs $15. The tour ends with a comprehensive beer tasting which alone is worth the price tag. My suggestion is to catch the 2:30pm tour and then stay for the happy hour at 3:30pm!

Last but not least, is the gorgeous lavender farm, Ali’i Kula Lavender, located in the Upcountry of Maui. It costs a nominal fee to enter the parking lot. You can pay for a guided tour or just explore on your own, which is what we did. It is seriously stunning up here. The views of the island are incredible and the air is so fresh and fragrant.

This lavender farm is a great place to relax and meditate surrounded by nature. Once we were done exploring, Tim and I sat at the top of the field, and enjoyed the view in silence for a few moments, letting our senses take it all in.
If you are going to visit Maui and have any questions about these tours, please send me a note!
